Wiley scores a 95!
So the cute little.... errr, rugged, large boy had his 2 month check-up this week. According to medical experts, using the most up-to-date scientific equipment, he's big. I mean, huge. Gargantuan. A behemoth. Among babies, he's the equivalent of the Stay-Puffed Marshmallow Man in Manhattan.
Ok, maybe not quite that big, but Wiley is growing. He's 14 lb and 24.5" long. This puts him in the 95th percentile for both height and weight. I was thinking he'd be a Ron Francis-type, smart with the puck, playing in a gentlemanly way. But with his size, and hair, and his head lagging behind in the 75th percentile, I think we're looking more at a Jaromir Jagr type, hopefully without the attitude or speeding tickets.
We're enjoying watching Wiley grow (we can actually see him getting bigger minute by minute; he's like bamboo, or possibly kudzu, only not so much a scourge to the south), even as we cringe at the thought of all the unused size 1 diapers. The boy's wearing everything from 3m - 9m clothing, though I'm not sure baby clothes manufacturers have any sort of sizing system. Somewhere, some baby clothing designer has a stack of onesies and a dart board. He/She... ok, definitely a she... tosses a dart, and whatever number the dart hits, that's the size written on the label of the outfit. (I should point out that this designer is not a particularly good darts player... we haven't had any bulls eye's yet.)
Wiley is also becoming much more interactive. He watches us as we move around the room, stares at pictures, lights, and ceiling fans, and is also starting to grab objects like hanging rings, rattles, and my neck. If you'd like to witness this amazing new ability, watch the video here.
Disclaimer:Ok, I realize he's only 2 months old, and growth rates can and will change, and he won't have a hyper-active pituitary gland his entire life, and that head size is not indicative of intellect, and he's not from the Czech Republic, but it's fun to project.
